Type Locality and Naming
SUBSURFACE: The type section is in the Well KR-1-1, Interval is 100-609m and thickness is 509m. Lithology and Thickness
Shallow-marine marl. The type section for the formation comprises of clastic clays with shell fragments and shell debris in the upper part and fossiliferous claystone in the lower part. The thickness varies from 291-166m in the offshore well.

Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lower boundary: unconformably overlies Mangalore Fm in shelf margin depression and on Quilon Fm elsewhere.
Upper contact
Regional extent
The formation covers the entire basin except the shallow continental shelf and on-land parts.
